Some of you have asked about the results of the Mission Projects we have held so far this year and plans "in the works" for fall and winter.
Your gift totals for each special Mission Sunday are as follows: Blanket Sunday - $935 - A certificate of recognition is on the Bulletin Board in the Narthex.
Your offerings for the "Pirates" musical (Heifer project) totaled over $1,300, thanks to Jane Wright and "her kids."
On May 31 Shawn and Colleen Temple brought us an update on the home building work in Cambodia . Your offering for that ministry - $534 - which they will send to Cambodia for building materials this summer.
Our Dominican Republic team * is "on sight " as we write this newsletter, so we continue to pray for them, their ministry and their safe return. No doubt they will have MUCH TO REPORT!
Fall may bring a return visit from Sheba Sunyana and an update on the land purchase for the orphanage in India , which has been accomplished, and the need now is to raise $56,000 to pay back borrowed and/or short-term loans, which were needed to meet the purchase deadline. The numbers of children being sheltered continue to grow. They are hoping to build some kind of temporary structure on the 4 acres soon as well as a fence to secure the site.
Our annual Mission Fair is under discussion, so if you have any new ideas/suggestions we welcome your input and participation. Maybe it too needs some "new life."
| Remember that each day we have a personal mission ministry here at home in our own community, so join us in our Lord's work wherever He lays it on our hearts to serve and thus help grow a loving community of those who know Christ as their Savior |

Our Churches Past Missions
10th Annual Mission Fair/Gift World
Sunday, November 6th
This is our opportunity to “shop” for alternative Christmas gifts that show our love and benefit mission ministries worldwide. Recent hurricanes Katrina & Rita have turned our focus to helping with disaster relief as well as continuing support for areas of ministry close to home & abroad. A recent Interpreter headline read:
| “Hurricane Katrina: United Methodists will respond ‘as long as necessary' .” |
The Bible tells us in II Cor.8:13-15 – “Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality..” As we do unto others as we would have others do unto us, we are living according to God's will.
SEE YOU AT THE FAIR! |
| Highlighting -THE LOVE FUND |
Our ministries in the community are sometimes private. One such project that has been ongoing for over twenty-five years is the Love Fund. This fund supplies money or supplies to help clothe, feed, heat and cool, but also any real need that occurs that the committee hears about. Each year the schools, and other organizations are asked about needs and the group tries to accomodate them. Most of the money comes from the funds raised at the "hot sausage" stand at the Carnival. The young adults class heads the activity, but get help from all ages of the church. |
