Prayer: Teach us your way, Oh God, that we may know what will truly lead us to happiness with you, and guide us along your way and enable us to avoid the pitfalls of false directions.

Amen.

The Right Choice

When thinking of what we could write about, I remembered and then searched, (a job I must say) for a poem someone once sent us. ( I found it – yea). After reading it over and over again we thought, “how can we use this?”

A Sad Choice (Anonymous)

On the table side by side,
The Holy Bible and the T.V. Guide
O
ne is well worn, but cherished with pride.
(Not the Bible, but the T.V. Guide )
One is used daily, to help folks decide.
No it isn't the Bible; it's the T.V. Guide
As the pages are turned, what shall they see?
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the T.V.
So they open the book in which they confide
(No, not the Bible, it's the T.V. Guide )
The Word of God is seldom read,
Maybe a verse ere they fall into bed.
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
Not from reading the Bible, but watching T.V.
So then back to the table, side by side,
Is the Holy Bible and the T.V. guide .
No time for prayer, no time for the Word.
The plan of salvation is seldom heard.
Forgiveness of sin so full and free.
Is found in the Bible, not the T.V.

True and real knowledge is from the Word of God, and only begins with the wisdom, the fragility of life, from our reading and studying the Bible.

In the first Psalm we are told, “Happy (or Blessed) are those who make the right choices.” We find joy in obeying the Law of God.

In reading and studying his word and doing his way, we can avoid the way of the wicked. By examining our idea of God we can reveal in ourselves what the concept is that we believe in.
