“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given… Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:2, 6-7)

Early this past semester, I had the privilege of meeting a gentleman who had an amazing story to tell. He was a fellow student, a bit older than I am, enrolled in the same class section of Psalms. This was the fifth college he had attended and he was working towards his fourth degree. One particular class session, our professor asked for personal stories about great things that God has done. This student proceeded to tell us his testimony and share his incredible story:

Just a little more than a year earlier, as an intellectual atheist who had completed his second Masters' degree, he was determined to disprove God and Christianity. A philosophy scholar, he knew that given the time and resources, he could do it. He enrolled in a Bible college much like the one we now attend. He thought if he could spend enough time logically studying “God's Word”, he'd expose the loopholes, contradictions, and the plain insanity compiled in this ordinary piece of fictional literature. Well, he was wrong. Instead, what he found was that the Word of God is mighty and powerful; it is a double-edged sword able to pierce any armor. And above all else, it is undeniable true.

This scholarly young man who had never seen, heard, or felt any convincing evidence of a living God, a young man bound and determined to prove to the world that this couldn't be – was transformed by the awesome power and the undeniable truth of God's Word.
